Sean Hedges-Quinn

A graduate of the University of Hertfordshire, Sean originally excelled in the film, TV and advertising industry working as a model-maker, prop-master and sculptor. A career spanning almost 20 years has seen his work diversify and appear in many Hollywood movies including Lost in Space, Reign of Fire, The Hours, V for Vendetta, Phantom of the Opera, Twelve Monkeys, Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans and most recently James Bond – Skyfall amongst many others.

Sean was also senior sculpter for five series and two feature films of ‘Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends’ responsible for the design and sculpting of practically all new train characters of that period.

Advertisments worked on include BT, Orange, Sony Brava, T-Mobile, Mercedes Benz and Sky.

Other projects include work for such clients as The Natural History Museum in London, Selfridges, Jim Hensons Creature Shop and The BBC.

In 1999 Sean was commissioned the award winning Sir Alfred Ramsey statue for Ipswich Town FC. This was to bring critical acclaim and a new direction in his career. Now working from within an old RAF base cinema, deep in the tranquil Suffolk countryside and with a young family, this new direction has been the most rewarding and satifiying of his career.

Sean has since become one of the leading figurative and portrait sculptors in the UK. Notable commissions include those of the forementioned Sir Alfred Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson statues for ITFC, Nat Lofthouse for Bolton Wanderers FC, Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe) of ‘Dads Army’ fame in Thetford, Norfolk and James Herriot in Thirsk, North Yorkshire amongst many others.

His artistic approach to sculpture is varied and is duely noted for the attention to detail. Beautifully and meticulously sculpted they create a powerful and imposing presence. Apart from having an accurate sensitivity to the human form, Sean has a natural consummate flair and thrives to bring a pleasing and authentic personality to whoever the subject may be. Be the project public, corporate or private his work is concerned with the design, planning, fund raising and creation of work on any scale both in the UK, Europe and beyond. Whatever the criteria of any given project, Sean aspires to fulfill the aspirations of the client base and a thorough understanding of the potential of public art.
